Message from the Chief:
I would like to thank you for taking the time to visit our web-site.
I am very proud of the
accomplishments the Blackfoot Police Department has made in the last
nine years and I am proud
to have been a part of it. I encourage you to explore all
the paths that have been provided to see all
the services that can be offered by a group of 31 dedicated personnel.
When I was hired in 1997 to
head the department, Mayor R Scott Reese told me that he wanted a police
department that was
more community minded. We immediately instituted a “community
policing” philosophy. Some
departments claim they provide community policing, but in Blackfoot,
our officers have shown the
citizens they live with our promise to provide this service.
Our patrol vehicles advertise this
message, “...with Community Policing in mind...”. The following
signs can be found throughout
our community:
What is Community Policing?
...a partnership of law enforcement with the
public...
sharing the responsibility for protecting and improving
the quality of community
life through teamwork,
creativity and community resources, thus reducing
crime.
We are a proactive law enforcement agency. We keep the citizens
in mind with all the programs we
provide. This has been shown through our bike patrols,
citizens on patrol, police reserves, park
patrols, special response team, gang enforcement team, as well as our
day-to-day contacts through
the patrol and investigations divisions. We work with a
supportive Mayor and City Council who
are pro-law enforcement. I encourage you to explore our
web-site and contact me if you have any
questions about our police department.
